For generations, boys became men with the help of men who had gone before them. Whether through challenge, responsibility, mentorship, or intentional rites of passage, boys were invited into manhood—not by accident, but on purpose.
Today, many boys never experience that moment.
Our culture celebrates achievement but often neglects initiation. Young men are expected to become men without ever being shown what biblical manhood looks like. They are handed freedom without responsibility, influence without character, and independence without wisdom.
We believe God designed manhood to be passed down from one generation to the next.
Our mission is to create a defining moment in a young man's life—a journey marked by challenge, brotherhood, honest conversations, and the presence of godly men. It is not the trip itself that makes a man. Rather, it is an opportunity to step away from the noise of everyday life, encounter God, be challenged to live with courage and integrity, and be called into the purpose for which he was created.
We want every young man who comes through our ministry to have a moment he can look back on and say, “That was when I chose to leave boyhood behind and pursue biblical manhood.”
Compass Outdoors partners with fathers, mentors, and local churches to create a meaningful initiation into biblical manhood. Through a week of intentional discipleship, challenging rites of passage, a multi-day wilderness canoe expedition, and shared adventure, young men are given the opportunity to step away from the distractions of everyday life and embrace the responsibilities, identity, and calling that come with becoming a man of God.
Our prayer is that this week is not the destination but the beginning—a defining moment that launches a lifetime of faithful discipleship, godly leadership, and a legacy of faith that will impact generations to come.
Every boy deserves to know
We believe every boy deserves to know what biblical manhood looks like. In a generation marked by increasing fatherlessness and a lack of godly male mentorship, our mission is to walk alongside young men through intentional discipleship. We exist to help them discover their identity in Christ, embrace the calling of biblical manhood, and become husbands, fathers, and leaders who faithfully pass their faith to the next generation.
True North
A compass is only useful because magnetic north never moves. Our bearing is Jesus — unchanging, trustworthy, and worth orienting a whole life around. We don't hide that. It's the reason any of this works.
